I believe what you are going to find is that and HSS Strat is going to be heavily identified towards that H sound.

Those vids of the V-Mod Pro Strats sound really good to me. He is considered exceptional by exceptional players. Like I say Jimmy Herring plays H Strats but he is an exceptional player. You get a Strat with SSS and you get a H guitar of most any sort you like. and those lipstick pickups are S but a different style of S. probably becasue he plays both HH Strats and SSS strats. and he just commented out of the blue how good the pickups were and then said. He mentioned th epickups in this new guitar he has. I was watching a Jimmy Herring video just the other day. But Strats just always seem to sound like Strats. Now you could take a Tele and with both pickups get what sounds like a heavy H sound. But also, new players generally can't play as clean to get that deep smooth S tone easily. Honestly I think sometimes people lean to the H for two reasons. You can approximate it with pedals but it's never really the same. You're just never really going to get a S to sound like an H.
